Weekend of Karting with Jamie Hacking and Ben Spies -
Jamie and Ben were in the neighborhood doing some track testing. With a few days to kill before heading off to Laguna Seca for more testing they stopped by the shop to visit Mikey. So what does Mikey do? He takes them to the track and puts them on the "Thumper" (4 Stroke 250cc Yamaha).

Jamie is no stranger to karting, but Ben has only had about 30 minutes of seat time a few years ago. This was going to be fun.

Oh, and did I mention it was raining!

Before going up to the track on Friday, Rob and Fritz swapped out the slicks for rain tires as Ben and Jamie watched.
After a few dizzying laps, Mikey calls Jamie in and gives him a few pointers. "Don't drive on the racing line." Jamie appears to be listening.
Does it look like he listened?
After a few laps Jamie got the hang of it and his laptimes decreased.
The sun started to set and the track was already past closing (Thanks Bob!) so we hauled it all back down the hill. Rob handed Jamie some rags and WD-40 and he went to town on Thumper.
Mumms the word on this one, but word on the street is that Ben took thumper out for a few laps too. So it's no suprise that we caught him with a rag or two.
Saturday was a different story as it didn't rain all morning. We did end up getting a few light showers here and there but the sun followed and dried the track enough that we didn't need to change to rains. But Jamie and Mikey did decide to widen up the front end as "The King" and Greg listened to one of Sergio's many funny stories. Something about deoderant.
After the adjustments were made to Thumper, Jamie heads out onto the track.
Ben jumps back onto the TaG. As the day progressed it became increasingly difficult to get Ben off of the TaG. So much so that Jamie coined the term "Mr. TaG" and the rest of us followed suit.
After a long day at the track we all head back to the shop for some Tri-Tip and Salmon that Rob had been BBQ'ing. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of the food since I was eating. This photo was afterwards.

Jamie came back the following Sunday to help clean the karts. Word on the street is that Ben wasn't with him. At any rate, we all had a great time with a couple of factory AMA racers and would have them back anytime.
