Yamaha USA’s Jamie Hacking continued his stunning summer of success at Mid-Ohio on Sunday afternoon, breaking free at the front of the Pro Honda Oils Supersport race to claim his third straight Superstock/Superstock weekend sweep.

The British-born racer is in the midst of an all-time great AMA support class season and his lopsided Mid-Ohio 600 triumph is just another in an incredible list of ’06 achievements. The win was his seventh in a row regardless of class, his fifth straight in Supersport, his tenth win overall in fifteen races, and his season-long streak of top-twos now sits at fifteen.

Hacking found himself dicing with the likes of Team M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Michael Barnes, MPT Racing’s Danny Eslick, and Team Kawasaki’s Roger Hayden before and after the lap 5 red flag and restart. He finally pushed into the lead for good on lap 10 and quickly went about building up an insurmountable lead.

“My bike is working great,” Hacking said after the race. “I owe everything to my crew and everyone who has put in the long hours on that motorcycle and enabled me to do what I can do on it and that’s run off in the corners and be comfortable. I knew I could drop the lap times a pretty good bit when I got by them. I just settled into my pace. I missed a shift and (Barnes) got back by me. I just had to regroup, come back, and make another pass on him. After that I didn’t make any mistakes. I just rode a flawless race and put every lap together. I’m riding 110% every weekend. I’m not giving anybody any slack and I’m not backing off. I’m having to work for every one of these.”

Hayden came through to pick up a clear second while early leader Barnes took his third Supersport podium finish of the year in third.

His Team M4 EMGO Suzuki teammate, Geoff May, won out following a ferocious battle for fourth, which also involved Eslick and Attack Kawasaki’s Ben Attard. Eslick claimed fifth while Attard took sixth, fortunate to finish following a remarkable save of a near-highside.

Superbike ace Ben Spies brought the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R600 home in seventh, while Eslick’s teammate, Blake Young, Honda-mounted Ryan Elleby, and Graves Yamaha’s Josh Herrin rounded out the top ten.

With just three races remaining on the calendar, Hacking now leads Hayden 256 to 197 as the Yamaha star is taking stride after strike towards his second class crown.
