Interview:Jamie Hacking AMA Superstar
Image2006 AMA Supersport and Superstock Champion Jamie Hacking gets cozy with Hamblen in a not very exclusive interview brought to you by TheBikeGame dot Com.

Hamblen vs Hacking

Jamie, first things first, congratulations on winning both the AMA
Supersport and Superstock titles this year! That was truly incredible.
We watched, in person, some of the action and it was truly awesome, you
are one heck of a motorbiker.

Q: I hear that you are switching teams for next year, you're gonna be in
Green? Was this decision sparked because of my review of the zx-6rr?
A: Yea, of course...just kidding. No, actually I wanted to ride in the Superbike class and Kawasaki offered me a 2 year Superbike deal.

Q:Will you have the support and technology to beat the dominant Suzuki team in the Superbike division next year?
A: I guess we will have to wait and see.

Q:You do some non moto bikin.  Why?  Moto bikin is so cool! We pedal
biking dorks are so slow...
A: I enjoy pedal bikin...it takes my mind off a lot of stuff and it is a great method of training.

Q:You did a 21min or so TT at Lowes, that's not bad. Ever thought about
doing some pack (bicycle) racing?
A: Yea, that would be great, but I can't really take any extra risks right now.

Q:How about Cyclocross, we'd love to see you out at the nccyclocross.com series? It's run by a fellow Brit, Tim Hopkin...
A: Sorry, I have never heard of Cyclocross. (ed. oh no... and i thought we were gonna be friends.)

Q:Why are you called "The Hacker"?  Do you commit a lot of fouls when playing motorcycle?
A: A fellow AMA racer, Anthony Gobert ,gave it to me and it just stuck.

Q:So you raced some BMX and Motocross stuff.  That's cool. How did you end up in AMA Supersport and Superstock racing?
A: Some friends were racing and got me involved. Next thing I knew, I was riding a Superbike for Factory Yamaha. (ed. that'd must be nice. I have friends, and know a guy who races, and I still don't have a factory ride in Superbike. Guess you need talent and drive too, dang.)

Q:Who is your moto-racing hero?
(ed. the screaming chief, i had to look that up)

Q:Bicycle racing hero (no Lance's accepted,
I *so *hate him)?
A: Sorry, Lance is the man! (ed. noooooo. oh well. ask me why when we're on a long ride some day.)

Q:So you moved to the United States of American States when you were a young lad.  How did that go.  Any fights break out at school? You know, because of the accent?
A: No, there weren't any fights. Everyone just wanted me to talk so that they could here my accent.

Q:How about your new style Brit-Southern accent? We love it, how's that affect your racing?
A:I am sure some people find it amusing, I am British and talk like a redneck. (ed. anyone who watches AMA racing on Speed TV knows what i'm talkin' about.)

Q:What's your favorite track?
A: Laguna Seca

Q:What race track do you fear the most?
A: Mid Ohio (ed. crashing there sucks, it seems.)

Q:How many pounds do you weigh, what's that in UK stone?
A: 140 lbs...not sure about stones.

i just found this:

"Check this out ... Hacking's fastest race lap in the Superstock final (1:26.019) was faster than any Superbike went all weekend. And faster than two MotoGP riders, too!"

that's stupid fast. on a pretty much stock bike. i can't do anything faster than 1:29's in Tourist Trophy, with a Superbike...
